The Book Ends Reviews

“So many books, so little time.” — Frank Zappa

Hoping the booklikes universe has the answer.  Would like to delete the "2016" on the Reading Challenge Button on my right side bar, here's the link http://thebookendsreviews.booklikes.com/, also added a pic.

If anyone knows how to do this would love to know. It automatically wraps and doesn't fit in the button frame.

I've seen other blogs that do not have the year in the title.  I may have done this to myself but don't remember where to change it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Aloha,

Karen

Kindle Track Your Reading Speed Solved!

I've been wondering where my Track Your Reading Speed in Kindle had disappeared to while reading/listening on my Kindle Fire (5th gen).  I just found the solution and it's so simple that if yours doesn't work it's entirely possible you don't even remember doing it.

The link above has the solution and it's so simple.  While your kindle is on and you're on a book page simply touch the bottom left corner of the book screen and it will toggle from blank to reading speed to location.  Remember, it's not the same as if you were touching on the middle of the screen to show the header and footer menu bars, just a reading page.

So glad I found the solution.

Finished The Doll's House by M. J. Arlidge

The Doll's House: A Detective Helen Grace Thriller (DI Helen Grace Thriller Book 3) - M. J. Arlidge

Ruby wakes up in a strange room. Her captor calmly explains that no one is looking for her. No one wants her. Except him.

When the body of a woman is found buried on a secluded beach, Detective Helen Grace is called to the scene. She knows right away that the killer is no amateur. The woman has been dead for years, and no one has even reported her missing. But why would they? She’s still sending text messages to her family.

Helen is convinced that a criminal mastermind is at work: someone very smart, very careful, and worst of all, very patient. But as she struggles to piece together the killer’s motive, time is running out for a victim who is still alive...

Breakdown by Johathan Kellerman

Breakdown: An Alex Delaware Novel - Jonathan Kellerman

Psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware meets beautiful and emotionally fragile TV actress Zelda Chase when called upon to evaluate her five-year-old son, Ovid. Years later, Alex is unexpectedly reunited with Zelda when she is involuntarily committed after a bizarre psychotic episode. Shortly after Zelda’s release, an already sad situation turns tragic when she is discovered dead on the grounds of a palatial Bel Air estate. Having experienced more than enough of L.A.’s dark side to recognize the scent of evil, Alex turns to his friend LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis for help in finding out who ended Zelda’s broken life.

At the same time, Alex is caught up in another quest: the search for Zelda’s missing son. And when other victims vanish from the same upscale neighborhood, worry turns to terror.

As Alex struggles to piece together the brief rise and steep fall of a gorgeous, talented actress, he and Milo unveil shattered dreams, the corruption of a family, and a grotesque betrayal of innocence. With each devastating revelation and damning clue, Alex’s brilliant mind is challenged as never before—and his determination grows to see a killer caged and the truth set free.

Liked it, very well done!

I believe I've read a few of Kellerman's books in the past but it was so long ago that I really don't remember much.  So far I'm liking Breakdown.

Finished Known by Kendra Elliot

Not bad.  Thought I read a few of Ms. Elliot's books in the past but it was a different author that was very similar in writing style.  I'll read more from Kendra Elliot.

Cop Town - Karin Slaughter

A very good display of how things were back in the 70's in the Atlanta Police Department.

Cop Town - Karin Slaughter

Karin Slaughter, author of the bestselling Will Trent novels, is widely acclaimed as “one of the best crime novelists in America” (The Washington Post). Now she delivers her first stand-alone novel: an epic story of a city in the midst of seismic upheaval, a serial killer targeting cops, and a divided police force tasked with bringing a madman to justice.

Starting out great!
